c. Termination Hardware (Data Jack):<br />

(1). Cable termination hardware shall be individual Category 6 rated<br />

jacks.<br />

d. Termination hardware (Equipment Rooms):<br />

(1). All cables installed for data application shall be terminated in<br />

accordance with Category 6 requirements.<br />

e. Equipment Racks:<br />

(1). Open bay relay type racks shall be specified in sufficient quantity to<br />

provide adequate mounting space for patch panels, wire managers,<br />

network integrating equipment and active devices (by others), plus<br />

an additional 25% growth.<br />

(2). Equipment racks shall be supported or braced at the top <strong>of</strong> each<br />

rack by a length <strong>of</strong> unistrut. Unistrut shall be attached to a full<br />

height wall by the appropriate fastening hardware. Equipment racks<br />

shall have the following physical characteristics:<br />

(a).<br />

(b).<br />

(c).<br />

Self-supporting, manufactured <strong>of</strong> either aluminum or steel,<br />

floor mounted.<br />

Both sides <strong>of</strong> vertical channel drilled and tapped for equipment<br />

mounting.<br />

Finish shall be either mill (aluminum) or telephone gray in<br />

color.<br />

f. Patch Panels and Wire Managers:<br />

(1). Data patch panels specified should be discrete port-type designed<br />

to accept the devices described above. The manufacturer as<br />

suitable for 155 Mbps data transmission shall certify Patch panels.<br />

Patch panels shall be manufactured <strong>of</strong> aluminum or steel, having<br />

the required ports per panel.<br />

(2). Wire management hardware shall be installed at both the top and<br />

bottom and between each patch panel and along the sides <strong>of</strong> the<br />

rack for patch cable routing and management.<br />

g. Voice/data jacks shall be provided throughout the facility. All wall plates<br />

shall be 6 port plates with blanks placed in unused ports.<br />
