The Applied Research Project<br />

The Department<br />

D.Min. studies culminate in the completion<br />

of an applied research project. A report<br />

of the student’s project is submitted<br />

as a dissertation. Note that the term<br />

“applied research project” refers to the<br />

entire project. The term “dissertation”<br />

refers to the actual written document.<br />

Students should register for DM103<br />

(paying three hours of tuition) the first<br />

term following the completion of 27<br />

hours and all course requirements.<br />

Students will have one year from then<br />

to complete their dissertation and<br />

graduate. 3 hours.<br />

Computer Tools for Biblical<br />

Exegesis<br />

Harris<br />

An introduction to the use of computer<br />

tools for original language study for the<br />

student who has no previous background<br />

in Greek and Hebrew or who<br />

has had language courses some years<br />

previously. Students will learn how to<br />

do word studies, solve interpretive<br />

problems, and do basic exegetical work<br />

using available electronic tools. Selected<br />

computer software will be required as<br />

listed in the current syllabus. Enrollment<br />

is limited to 15 D.Min.-C.E. students<br />

seeking M.Div. equivalency and currently<br />

enrolled D.Min. students. 3 hours.<br />

A study of selected biblical issues and<br />

their significance for ministry. This<br />

seminar is offered based on student<br />

interest. May be repeated once for<br />

A presentation of problem-solving<br />

strategies that will enable students to<br />

identify, analyze, and propose solutions<br />

for their most pressing ministry problems.<br />

Each problem and solution will<br />

then be critiqued, with a view to providing<br />

a more comprehensive solution.<br />

skills necessary for promoting effective<br />

An exploration of the relationship<br />

between enrichment of family life and<br />

family life education programs in the<br />

church. The seminar format provides<br />

an opportunity to interact with leading<br />

authorities in the field of family ministry<br />

and to become aware of networking<br />

possibilities with family ministers. 3 hours.<br />
