COURSE OFFERINGS<br />
Required courses are offered on a regular basis and in most<br />
cases are offered according to the curriculum chart for each<br />
program found in the <strong>Academic</strong> <strong>Programs</strong> section of this<br />
catalog. Ministry track and elective courses are generally<br />
offered on a rotating basis. For information on ministry track<br />
and elective course offerings for any given academic year<br />
contact the Registrar’s Office or the respective departments.<br />
NONDEPARTMENTAL COURSES<br />
Th.M. students are responsible to demonstrate competence in<br />
research by satisfactorily completing either (1) a Th.M. thesis in<br />
an academic department of their choosing, or (2) a three-hour<br />
research seminar culminating in a written thesis-style research<br />
project. All Th.M. students are required to register for either<br />
RS101 or RS102. Students should register for RS101 during<br />
their first semester at the time they take PM101. Contact the<br />
Registrar’s Office for more information.<br />

Orientation and Research Methods<br />
The Faculty<br />
This course is designed to guide students in the use of<br />
library materials, computerized databases, and bibliographic<br />
resources. It provides instruction in research strategies,<br />
thesis topic selection, and familiarization with form and style<br />
for papers and theses. In addition, this course provides an<br />
orientation to the educational philosophy of biblical,<br />
theological, and ministry-related studies at <strong>Dallas</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong>.<br />

Research and Summary of Christian Doctrine<br />
The Faculty<br />
This course is designed to provide opportunity and<br />
guidance for the writing of a summative research paper<br />
within the Th.M. degree program, and to offer a general<br />
review of the major areas of Christian doctrine with a<br />
view to ordination and professional ministry. 2 hours.<br />
<strong>Academic</strong> and Cultural Orientation<br />
for International Students<br />
Baker<br />
This course will explore issues of cultural adaptation,<br />
awareness, and approaches to academic writing and<br />
documentation to enable the student to be successful in<br />
the classroom. It is equivalent to RS101 Orientation and<br />
Research Methods. This course is required for all incoming<br />
international students whose first language is not English<br />
or for those who have not completed a degree previously<br />
in English. Exceptions may be made by the World Missions<br />
and Intercultural Studies department. Only one hour of this<br />
course credits toward a degree. 2 hours.<br />
