INT501 The Sermon on the Mount<br />
John R. W. Stott<br />
The course is an exposition of Jesus’<br />
Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5–7.<br />
The emphasis is on the distinctive<br />
character that is expected of the Christian<br />
and on the authority of the Lord<br />
Jesus Christ. The course emphasizes<br />
the practical and spiritual applications<br />
of the Sermon on the Mount and the<br />
theological issues and historical interpretations<br />
of that passage. 2 hours.<br />
INT502 The Pastoral Epistles<br />
John R. W. Stott<br />
An expository and exegetical study of<br />
1 and 2 Timothy and Titus, with emphasis<br />
on their exegetical and interpretive<br />
problems and their theology and practical<br />
relevance for society and the church,<br />
especially church leadership. One syllabus<br />
requires a knowledge of Greek with the<br />
careful use of the specified commentaries.<br />
A separate syllabus for the course<br />
does not require Greek. 3 hours.<br />
INT504 The Gospels/Life of Christ<br />

A chronological, synthetic study of the<br />
four Gospel records, emphasizing the<br />
time, place, circumstances, and persons<br />
involved in the events of our Lord’s<br />
ministry, with a view to a fuller<br />
understanding of the significance<br />

INT505 The Parables of Jesus<br />
Craig L. Blomberg<br />
Methods of interpreting Jesus’ parables<br />
are surveyed and then an eclectic<br />
model drawing on the best insights of<br />
each parable is applied to some of the<br />
major narrative parables in the Gospels.<br />
Conclusions are drawn concerning the<br />
theology and significance of this portion<br />
of Jesus’ teaching. 2 hours.<br />

An examination of the Gospel of Luke,<br />
with concentration on its message and<br />
preparation of narrative material for<br />

An exegetical examination of Acts, with<br />
concentration on the biblical theology of<br />
the book, the historical background of<br />
events, and the theological emphasis of<br />
the speeches. Special attention is given to<br />
the relationship between the church and<br />

A historical and theological study of<br />
the origins and developments within<br />
the Classical Pentecostal, Charismatic<br />
Renewalist, and Restoration movements,<br />
with emphasis on theological<br />

The Corporate Dimensions<br />
of Spirituality<br />
John R. Lillis<br />
An investigation into the meaning of<br />
biblical Christianity and its relationship<br />
to faith and practice within contemporary<br />
cultural contexts. Special attention<br />
is given to the corporate dimensions<br />
of spirituality and spiritual formation as<br />
defined in the New Testament. Those<br />
historical and cultural factors that have<br />
led to the privatization of Christianity<br />
are analyzed and discussed. A paradigm<br />
of spiritual growth and maturity, which<br />
focuses on the assembly rather than the<br />
individual, is developed. 3 hours.<br />
IMT502 The Role of Women in Ministry<br />
Lucy L. Mabery-Foster<br />
A study of ministry to and by women,<br />
including biblical foundations for roles of<br />
women in the home, church, and society.<br />
The course includes principles for evangelizing,<br />
discipling, and counseling women and<br />
is designed to aid both men and women<br />
who will be responsible for various areas<br />
of women’s ministries. 3 hours.<br />
