JAY E. SMITH<br />

Various forms of ministry in the local church complement Dr. Smith’s role as a teacher<br />
in the New Testament department. He has a special interest in the apostle Paul’s<br />
letters and New Testament theology. He regularly contributes to leading academic journals and<br />
several professional societies. His current teaching and research interests include 1 Corinthians<br />
and Paul’s sexual ethics.<br />

Dr. Taylor has accumulated more than 30 years of graduate-level teaching experience<br />
and maintains his academic sharpness through active memberships in a dozen professional<br />
societies and groups. Dr. Taylor’s specialties include Aramaic studies and Syriac literature. His<br />
travels have taken him throughout Central America, Europe, the Near East, Canada, and India.<br />
His wife is a Christian school administrator, his daughter is a public-school teacher, and his son is<br />
a Ph.D. student in Washington, D.C.<br />
JAMES H. THAMES<br />

From his unique position as faculty and administrative staff member, Dr. Thames<br />
understands frontline teaching and behind-the-scenes logistics. Since joining the <strong>Seminary</strong> in<br />
1984 he has served in a variety of positions and has been involved in establishing a professional<br />
association for registrars and admissions officers for theological schools. His areas of special<br />
interest include administration and accreditation in Christian higher education. In addition,<br />
Dr. Thames, an ordained minister, has been involved in overseas ministry and is active in his<br />
local church, including several years of service as a member of the board of elders.<br />
STANLEY D. TOUSSAINT<br />
Senior Professor Emeritus of Bible Exposition<br />

B.A., Augsburg College, 1951; Th.M., <strong>Dallas</strong> <strong>Theological</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong>, 1955; Th.D., 1957.<br />
A pastor-teacher committed to expository preaching, Dr. Toussaint enjoys both<br />
roles. He has taught at <strong>Dallas</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong> since 1960 and pastored for more than 20<br />
years. An editor, author, teacher, and conference speaker, he has taught in Christian<br />
schools in the Middle East, Australia, and the Far East and has ministered in the pulpit literally<br />
around the world.<br />
