Awards<br />
The William H. and Stella M. Taylor<br />
Award in World Missions<br />
An annual award of $250 is given by Dr. William<br />
David Taylor in honor of his parents, William H.<br />
and Stella M. Taylor, in appreciation for their<br />
living legacy, to the graduating master’s-level<br />
student who has done the most outstanding<br />
work in the Department of World Missions and<br />
Intercultural Studies, has made a significant<br />
impact for world missions on the <strong>Dallas</strong><br />
<strong>Theological</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong> campus, and demonstrates<br />
unusual potential for cross-cultural ministry.<br />
The External Studies Award<br />
An annual award of $250 is given by Barney and<br />
Karen Giesen to the student graduating from a<br />
<strong>Dallas</strong> <strong>Theological</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong> extension campus<br />
who best exemplifies Christian character, diligent<br />
scholarship, spiritual leadership, and promise of<br />
effective Christian service. The award is limited to<br />
students who have completed at least 50 percent<br />
of their course work at, and are graduating from,<br />
an extension campus.<br />
The H. A. Ironside Award in Expository<br />
Preaching<br />
An annual award of $250 is given by Mrs. Ray<br />
Charles Stedman in loving memory of Dr. Henry<br />
Allen Ironside, respected visiting Bible lecturer<br />
at <strong>Dallas</strong> <strong>Theological</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong> (1925–50), to the<br />
male, master’s-level, graduating student who<br />
demonstrates the greatest proficiency in<br />
expository preaching.<br />
The Ruben S. Conner Award in Evangelism<br />
and Discipleship<br />
An annual award of $250 is given by the Urban<br />
Evangelical Mission of <strong>Dallas</strong>, Texas, to the graduating<br />
master’s-level student who has demonstrated<br />
outstanding study of and ministry to the African-<br />
American community.<br />
The C. Fred Lincoln Award<br />
in Christian Service<br />
An annual award of $250 is given by the children<br />
of Dr. C. Fred Lincoln in loving memory of their<br />
father, former business manager (1926–67) and<br />
professor of Bible Exposition (1936–60) at <strong>Dallas</strong><br />
<strong>Theological</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong>, to the graduating master’slevel<br />
student who has demonstrated outstanding<br />
zeal in practical Christian service.<br />
The Charles H. Troutman Scholarship Award<br />
An annual award of $250 is given by Mrs. Richard<br />
H. Seume in loving memory of her parents, Mr.<br />
and Mrs. Charles H. Troutman, to the graduating<br />
student who maintains the highest scholastic<br />
record in the Master of Arts programs.<br />
The W. H. Griffith Thomas Scholarship Award<br />
An annual award of $250 is given in loving memory<br />
of Dr. W. H. Griffith Thomas, one of the founders of<br />
<strong>Dallas</strong> <strong>Theological</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong>, to the graduating<br />
student who maintains the highest scholastic<br />
record in the Master of Theology program.<br />
The John G. Mitchell Award<br />
An annual award of $250 is given by Dr. and<br />
Mrs. Howard G. Hendricks in loving memory<br />
of Dr. John G. Mitchell, pastor and former vicepresident<br />
of Multnomah School of the Bible,<br />
to the student in the Doctor of Ministry program<br />
who demonstrates outstanding scholarship and<br />
effectiveness in ministry.<br />
The Emilio Antonio Núñez Award<br />
An annual award of $250 is given by Dr. and Mrs. J.<br />
Ronald Blue in honor of Dr. Emilio Antonio Núñez,<br />
distinguished professor at Seminario Teologico<br />
Centroamericano (SETECA) in Guatemala City,<br />
Guatemala, and noted theologian throughout<br />
Latin America, to the graduating student in the<br />
Spanish Doctor of Ministry program who demonstrates<br />
outstanding scholarship and effectiveness<br />
in ministry.<br />
The William M. Anderson Scholarship Award<br />
An annual award of $250 is given in loving memory<br />
of Dr. William M. Anderson Jr., one of the founders<br />
of <strong>Dallas</strong> <strong>Theological</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong>, member of the<br />
<strong>Seminary</strong> boards and vice-president of the <strong>Seminary</strong><br />
(1924–34), to the student in the Doctor of<br />
Philosophy program who maintains the highest<br />
standards of excellence throughout the program.<br />
The Lorraine Chafer Award<br />
An annual award of $250 is given by Judge and<br />
Mrs. Rollin A. Van Broekhoven in loving memory of<br />
Mrs. Lorraine Chafer, wife of Lewis Sperry Chafer,<br />
founder and first president of <strong>Dallas</strong> <strong>Theological</strong><br />
<strong>Seminary</strong>, to the master’s-level international student<br />
in the graduating class who, in the judgment of<br />
the faculty, best evidences well-balanced Christian<br />
character, scholarship, and spiritual leadership.<br />
The Mary T. Seume Award<br />
An annual award of $250 is given by Dr. and Mrs.<br />
Frank F. Dingwerth in honor of Mrs. Richard H.<br />
Seume, former assistant dean of students for women<br />
(1978–85) at <strong>Dallas</strong> <strong>Theological</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong>, to the<br />
female master’s-level student in the graduating<br />
class who, in the judgment of the faculty, best evidences<br />
well-balanced Christian character, scholarship,<br />
and promise of effective Christian service.<br />
The Lewis Sperry Chafer Award<br />
An annual award of $250 is given by Dr. and Mrs.<br />
Erwin Lutzer on behalf of Mr. Fred R. Hickman in<br />
loving memory of Dr. Lewis Sperry Chafer, founder,<br />
president, professor of Systematic Theology<br />
(1924–52) and editor of Bibliotheca Sacra (1940–<br />
52) at <strong>Dallas</strong> <strong>Theological</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong>, to the male<br />
master’s-level student in the graduating class who,<br />
in the judgment of the faculty because of his wellbalanced<br />
Christian character, scholarship, and<br />
spiritual leadership, best embodies and portrays<br />
the ideals of <strong>Dallas</strong> <strong>Theological</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong>.<br />
NON-COMMENCEMENT AWARDS<br />
The Rollin Thomas Chafer Award<br />
in Apologetics<br />
An annual award of $250 is given by Dr. and<br />
Mrs. Norman L. Geisler in loving memory of Dr.<br />
Rollin Thomas Chafer, brother of Lewis Sperry<br />
Chafer, registrar (1924–36), editor of Bibliotheca<br />
Sacra (1934–40), and professor of apologetics<br />
at <strong>Dallas</strong> <strong>Theological</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong>, to the master’slevel<br />
student who submits the best paper on<br />
Christian apologetics.<br />
The E. J. Pudney Award in World Missions<br />
An annual award of $250 is given by UFM International<br />
in loving memory of E. J. Pudney, founder<br />
of UFM International, to the Th.M. student<br />
who has done the most outstanding work<br />
in the Department of World Missions and<br />
Intercultural Studies.<br />
