Crombie Estate Left To
Fight Tuberculosis
The late DR. DAvm WEISBROD OOMBIE,
McGill '11, whose death was listed in THE
SCROLL of March, 1953, left his estate,
which amounted to approximately $60,000,
to the London (Ontario) Health Association
to be held as a trust fund to be
known as the David Weisbrod Crombie
Endowment Fund, the annual net income
of which will be used for the Beck Memorial
Sanatorium, preferably for medical
research. A sufferer from tuberculosis himself.
Brother Crombie devoted his life to
the relief of that disease and belonged to
the outstanding group of doctors who
pioneered in the care of tuberculosis in
Canada. Developing the disease while a
medical student at McGill, Brother Crombie
had recurrences in 1916-17 at which
time he studied at Trudeau School at
Saranac Lake while undergoing treatment,
and during 1923-24 when he returned from
studying in London, England. From 1933-
1950 he was superintendent of Queen
Alexandra, now known as the Beck Memorial,
Sanatorium at London, Ontario.
