SPOKANE
WEEKLY LUNCHEONS are being held at the Desert Hotel
each Friday at 12 noon. Greater interest is being shown
in our alumni chapter now since changing the noon meetings
to once a week from the first Monday of each month.
Extensive plans are underway for our annual Founders
Day banquet which will be held at 7 P.M., March 22,
at the Spokane City Club. A very fine diimer and evening's
entertainment are in the process of being arranged,
and at that time Mr. Charles R. Stark, Jr., Brown '07,
will be awarded the Golden Legion Certificate. A much
larger than usual turnout is anticipated, and a cordial
invitation is extended to all Phis in the Inland Empire
area to attend what should be our best Founders Day
celebration ever sponsored by this Club.—CLYDE A. RAY­

WEST TEXAS—SOUTHERN NEW MEXICO
SEVENTEEN PHIS representing fifteen chapters located in
fourteen states met for a dinner meeting in the Sun
Room of Hotel Cortez, El Paso, Tex. We were particularly
fortunate to have as our special guest for the evening, Ray '
Blackwell, National Alumni Secretary. Brother BlackweU
gave a very stimulating and interesting talk which was
foUowed by an hour long question and answer-discussion
period. Being away from an active chapter leaves us
hungry for some up to date information about our Fraternity
and Brother Blackwell very capably answered our
every question. As another outstanding feature on the
evening's program Brother Dale Waters, Texas Western
College coach, presented color movies of the 1954 Sun
Bowl Game. Brothers present were; Lloyd Harris, Nemo
Herrera, Jim Huntsman, Sam Mahoney, Carl Olsen, Robert
Reid, Lawrence Stevens, Dale Waters, David Young,
James Bell, Jim Speicher, James Webb, Jeff Welsher, William
Bruce, Carl Chambers, Don Strode and Ray Blackwell.—CARL

Georgia Beta Chapter—Alumni
Relations on the Upswing

McEvoY, -JR., Alumni Secretary of Georgia Beta—ED.]
Alumni relationship between Georgia Beta at Emory
and its alumni has been closer this year than in the past.
This closer relationship has been our goal for many years
and we are continuing to foster it, hoping that in the
future years it will be even better.
Last August we started the year in grand fashion with
the Atlanta Alumni Club's annual rush party at Sam
Smith's Snapfinger Farm. Cooperation continued all
through rush week with recommendations quicldy received
and friendly encouragement generously given.
On the part of the chapter, we have two alumni to
dinner every Thursday evening. This brings all the active
Brothers in contact with the older members of the Fraternity
and gives the alumnus an opportunity to meet
the current chapter, hear of its accomplishments, and
renew his interest in $ A 6.
In the Spring there are two functions which the alumni
and chapter wUl share—Founders Day and Alumni Day at
Emory University. Georgia Beta, in past years, has presented
a group of melodies performed by the Phi Chorus.
The second celebration will be held at the University
on April 7. Although this is primarily a meeting ot the
alumni of the University, it is also a meeting of the
alumni ot Georgia Beta.
Alumni relations are on the upswing at Georgia Beta.
We want our alumni to feel a part of and take an interest
in the chapter. We appreciate aU that they have done in
the past and are looking forward to working with them
in the future.
