HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN I
As Arizona Phi wins student body presidency
THE PHIS at Arizona Alpha were really
happy when their Brother Jerry Young
won the student body presidency in elections
last Spring. This picture was snapped
right after the victory party as telegrams
and the sneak edition of the campus newspaper
were brought over to the house.

tinguished himself in scholarship and serice. Jim
served as business manager of the Ring-tiim Phi,
vice-president of the Senior class, and representative
to the Executive Committee.
Our leadership in sport activities could hardly be
challenged. Bob Thomas of Fort Worth, Texas,
captained the Generals' football team during the
1952 season. Bob has been drafted by the Detroit
Lions. Ben Walden of Midway, Ky., had a fine
season as captain of the W & L basketball quintet.
Tyson Janney of Ben Venue, Va^ served as. cocaptain
of the baseball team and shouldered most
of the pitching duties. Frank McCormick of Winchester,
Ky., led the golf team as its captain. Frank
led our linksters to the Big Six, title.
The real success of our house was due to the work
of our senior class as a whole. Roy Craig of Lake
Wales, Fla., Bob Hintpn of Uniontown, Ala.,
"Dutch" Isett of Dearborn, Mich., Don Jackson of
Maryville, Tenn., and Bill Whitney of Bethlehem,
Pa., were all outstanding members.
I. M. Sheffield, Bob Thomas, and Jim Foltz were
all members of O A K.

"lAT E OF Virginia Zeta are justly proud of our chapter
and particularly of our 1953 seniors. From
our outstanding graduates came the president of the
student body, captains of five athletic teams, vicepresident
of the Senior class, and business manager
of the Ring-tum Phi, our campus newspaper.
I. M. Sheffield, III, of Atlanta, Ga., climaxed four
years of distinguished service to Washington & Lee
and to * A 9 as president of the student body.
James A. Foltz, III, of Memphis, Tenn., also dis-
/^AMPUS elections at Allegheny College last
Spring were, as usual, fought with suspense,
fervor, and drama. When the smoke from the
torches had cleared, and the blare of campaign
bands had died away, Pennsylvania Delta looked
with pride on the newly elected president of the
Allegheny Undergraduate Council, Phi Tom Gladden.
