AFTER eight years. Phi
. Delta Theta is returning
to the Grand Hotel, Mackinac
Island, Michigan, for its 1954
Convention. They'll roll out
the red carpet for you at Mackinac—down
the veranda stairs
to the fringed-top surrey in
which you'll ride to the hotel.
And the Grand Hotel, beautifully
situated on Mackinac
Island at the crossroads of
Lakes Huron, Michigan and
Superior, is just as royal and
plus as its carpet.
Greeting you as you cross
the lovely
veranda (the longest in the world) will be
the stirring strains of Phis Victorious, March
On, Phi Delta Theta and many others in
*A0's repertoire of popular songs, as
played by the Grand Hotel Orchestra. This
talented group of musicians, as well as an
expert Hammond organist, will be on duty
regularly throughout all four convention
days, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and
Saturday, September 1, 2, 3, 4, 1954, to add
additional lustre to what promises to be a
sciritillating program.
The 50th General Convention will be
one held amidst delightful surroundings in
every sense of the word. From the moment
one walks up the gang plank and boards

one of the numerous ferry boats plying between
Mackinaw City and St. Ignace on the
mainland and Machinac Island (automobiles
are not permitted on the island) one
has the feeling of being transported to another
world far removed from the hurlyburly
of modern living. The thrill-packed
program, the natural beauty of historic
Mackinac Island, the splendor and setting
of the Grand Hotel, the crisp, sunny, pollenfree
air, and Phikeias Band of warm-hearted
friendly people will all contribute to a
Convention held, indeed, in delightful surroundings.
