Texas Epsilon Installed
at Texas Tech

Assisting Brother Wilterding in the installation
were Brothers Biggers, McCall,
Bledsoe, Prouty, and two alumni, E. W.
Williams, S.M.U. '49, Lubbock, and C. O.
Burnside, Kansas '22, Oklahoma City.
William Greer, member of the Oklahoma
A. & M. chapter, sang "The Lord's Prayer,"
and a 30-voice choir from the Texas Delta
chapter at S.M.U., sang "The Delta Theta
Doxology." Dr. Travis White, pastor of the
host church who now is president of Atlantic
Christian College, Wilson, North Carolina,
read Scripture and offered the installation
prayer.
The sanctuary was ideal for an installation.
Under the cruciform altar window
hung the blue and white flag of our Fraternity,
and before the altar table sat a large
bowl of white carnations. A large replica of
the $ A 0 pin fronted the lectern.
Texas Epsilon President Moody Alexander
received the charter and the wrappedin-white
packages of secret chapter documents
from Brother Wilterding.
Immediately following the installation,
a reception was held in the church parlors,
where each new Phi liad an opportunity to
display his new badge. Gift flowers from
KKT decorated the table where guests
registered; gift flowers from a new brother,
Clarence F. Wakefield, decorated the refreshment
table.
Hostesses at the reception were Mrs. John
Harding, wife of the chapter adviser; Mrs.
Retha Martin, A^, wife, mother and
mother-in-law of new initiates, and Mrs.
Parker Prouty, K A ©, wife of the Lubbock
alumni president.
During the course of the afternoon, two
Silver Key alumni arrived too late for the
initiation. Joe Reppeto and Ross Glaze
had made an unsuccessful attempt to drive
from Maryland in time for the rites.
So what happened Texas Epsilon adjourned
from the reception and went again
to the Prouty home to take the two brothers
into the Bond. By nightfall the chapter
roster had grown to 112.

Latest news about Jeff is that he's been
signed to co-star with Keefe Brasselle and
Mitzi Gaynor in Three Young Texans.
Incidentally, news of his great starring
role in Sailor of the King was received by
the Hunters with rather mixed emotions inasmuch
as it meant four months in Europe,
for Jeff—and he was about to become a
father for the first time! Fortunately, the
stork arrived with Christopher Merrill Mc­
Kinnies—a beautiful eight-pound-boy—just
five days before dad had to leave.
Phis the world over will watch with interest
the career of this handsome, talented
young member of * A 0. And they will
wish him well because Hank—or Jeff—as
you will, has always been a loyal member
of the Fraternity. He served as president of
Illinois Alpha chapter during his senior
year, and has acknowledged in interviews
that his only job, aside from acting, was as
a "hasher" at the Phi house at Northwestern.
In another interview he declared his
favorite possession to be his *A0 pin—
until he got his wedding ring. Fair enough!

fraternities which had houses but was reaffirmed
the following year. Following this
delay representatives of Alpha, the mother
chapter of S * E, * r A, and * A ® started
back to work. An architect was commissioned,
and many plans, ideas, and estimates
were submitted, reviewed, revised and rejected.
At long last a plan was accepted, contracts
were let, and on July 7, 1952, ground
breaking ceremonies for the three lodges
were held. On April 26, 1953, all three chapters
held an open house to the general
public.
