Glacier Bay: For purposes of the general permit, means all waters inside a line<br />
drawn between Point Gustavus at 135º54.927’ W longitude; 58º22.748’ N latitude<br />
and Point Carolus at 136º2.535’ W longitude; 58º22.694’ N latitude.<br />
Gray Water: Includes discharges from galley, sinks, washbasins, drains,<br />
showers and baths. These may be held in large tanks prior to being discharged<br />
overboard (State, Fed, regulation permitting).<br />

Harmful substance (from 33 CFR 151): Harmful substance means any<br />
substance which, if introduced into the sea, is liable to create hazards to human<br />
health, harm living resources and marine life, damage amenities, or interfere with<br />
other legitimate uses of the sea, and includes any substance subject to control by<br />
MARPOL 73/78.<br />
Hazardous waste: includes dry cleaning (containing Perchloroethylene, or<br />
commonly- called “PERC”) waste, used paints and thinners that contain<br />
hazardous substances, silver-bearing photo-processing waste, cleaning solutions<br />
and other items that contain hazardous substances. Each vessel may vary in<br />
both the type and volumes of hazardous waste generated depending on the<br />
technology and processes used aboard.<br />
Marine sanitation device: Equipment that is installed on board a vessel, and<br />
that is designed to receive, retain, or discharge sewage; and any process to treat<br />
sewage on board a vessel.<br />
