4. Supply & sustainable use of Inputs, land, etc<br />

• Ensure availability of inputs- seeds and fertilizers<br />

• Protection of agricultural land and protection of tenant<br />

right<br />

• Provide easy loan to <strong>the</strong> farmers<br />

• Promote community based agriculture<br />

• Support insurance system for crop, livestock and fishery<br />

• Increase women’s access to land, water and o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

resources<br />

• Increase poor peoples’ access to land, water, technology<br />

and inputs<br />

• Seed Quality testing facilities be made locally available<br />

• Skill training for seedbed management for good seedling<br />

raising<br />

• Increase supply of quality seeds through BADC<br />

reducing reliance on private sector<br />

• Ensure supply of quality seed through private seed<br />

dealers<br />

• Quality seed of hybrid rice and o<strong>the</strong>r hybrid crops<br />

should be made available locally through BADC or<br />

honest traders<br />

• Law to protect agricultural land from selling for o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

purposes<br />

• Land use planning to protect agricultural land loss<br />

• Local coordination among different departments-<br />

BWDB, AG, Food<br />

• Law to stop leasing Govt. Khash land for enabling<br />

brood continuation/survival<br />

• Enhance farmers’ cooperative/united efforts/ICM club<br />

in farming under local DAE supervision<br />

• Agricultural loan including those for crops, Livestock<br />

and fishery should be made available through Krishi<br />

Bank at low interest/interest free<br />

5. Livestock development<br />

• Provide feed subsidy<br />

• Dissemination of mature technology of BLRI<br />

• Reduce high price of Day old chicks<br />

• Support for fair price of livestock products (resolve<br />

marketing problem of livestock product)<br />

• Arranging electricity supply for poultry raising<br />

• Good brood/chicks for poultry and disease free fish<br />

brood/seed<br />

• Making available of quality poultry feeds<br />

• Skill training of poultry farmers on feed, nutrition, and<br />

disease management<br />

• Veterinary services including de-worming should be<br />

made available through Government.<br />

6. Fishery development<br />

• Shrimp policy is needed<br />

• Zoning for bagda shrimp<br />

• Excavation and conservation of Jalmahal and baor for<br />

fisheries<br />

• Community based fisheries development<br />

• Subsidy of fish feed needed<br />

• Diversification in coastal aquaculture- Crab, mussels,<br />

sea weeds, etc.<br />

• Making available of quality fish feeds<br />

• Develop and promote technology for integrated use of<br />

Embankment areas for fish<br />

• Improved hatchery should be established locally<br />

7. Marginal farmers<br />

• Support for credit facilities and institutional capacity<br />

building, inputs and technology<br />

• Provide capital to enable <strong>the</strong>m buying pure seed,<br />

fertilizer in time<br />

• Tenant farmers should be given interest free loan and<br />

crop insurance should be introduced<br />

• Agricultural loan including those for crops, Livestock<br />

and fishery should be made available through Krishi<br />

Bank at low interest/interest free without Security to<br />

marginal farmers<br />
