• Livestock can play important role for<br />

nutrition. Need to support processing and<br />

marketing of livestock products.<br />

• Expand VGD facilities for <strong>the</strong> fishers of<br />

different char lands and conserve water<br />

• Streng<strong>the</strong>ning regional research activities to cope with climate change situation<br />

• Development submergence and drought- tolerant short duration rice varieties<br />

• Support dissemination of submergence tolerant rice varieties (BRRI Dhan 51 and 52) at farmers level<br />

• Develop marketing facilities in <strong>the</strong> region<br />

• Introduce leguminous crops into <strong>the</strong> cropping pattern<br />

• Streng<strong>the</strong>n research on new insects and diseases due to climate change<br />

• Promote application of lime in low PH soil areas for upland crops<br />

• Provide training to <strong>the</strong> sugarcane farmers and gur makers<br />

• Support management of control of fruit pests (bar fruit borer, mango hopper, etc.)<br />

• Support establishment of biogas plant in new areas<br />

• Develop retting facilities for jute crops<br />

• Support farmers’ training on balanced fertilizers<br />

• Develop public-private partnership on tissue culture facilities<br />

• Support production of quality seeds by <strong>the</strong> farmer <strong>the</strong>mselves<br />

• Develop new flexible HYVs to meet climatic hazards<br />

• Development of resource(water and soil etc) conserving technologies<br />

• Support fodder production by integrated farming<br />

• Support farmers for application of fertilizers on <strong>the</strong> basis of soil test<br />

• Develop appropriate cropping pattern for high Barind with short duration HYV Aus varieties<br />

• Promote conservation of rain water for cultivation of non-rice crops<br />

• Encourage crop diversification with greater thrust with ecological balance through integrated resource<br />

management practices<br />

• Adaptive trials for direct seeded rice cultivars.<br />
