The applicant (local supplier) should ensure that the user, to whom equipment<br />

is to be supplied, is authorised by AERB to procure the radiation source/<br />

radiation generating equipment. The local supplier should give periodic<br />

reports covering addresses of agencies to whom equipment/devices are<br />

supplied and submit to AERB a programme made <strong>for</strong> clients to support<br />

activities such as arrangement <strong>for</strong> calibration etc.<br />

After import and installation of the equipment/device, per<strong>for</strong>mance test of<br />

the same is to be conducted as applicable by the applicant to demonstrate<br />

that its functions meet design intent. This per<strong>for</strong>mance verification tests may<br />

be witnessed by AERB as required.<br />

Subsequent to grant of NOC by AERB, there is no need to submit separate<br />

application <strong>for</strong>m <strong>for</strong> Type Approval. The same NOC Application <strong>for</strong>m would<br />

be reviewed <strong>for</strong> considering Type Approval. However, other documents as<br />

required by AERB as indicated in the respective Annexure <strong>for</strong> Type Approval<br />

should be submitted.<br />

The AERB may grant Type Approval based on the verification of per<strong>for</strong>mance<br />

and on being satisfied that the equipment/device/package meets the<br />

requirements of National/International standards specified in the technical<br />

in<strong>for</strong>mation provided to AERB.<br />

In case of certain imported equipment/devices (such as IRGD), AERB may<br />

also consider granting Type Approval based on reviewing of the compliance<br />

with applicable national/international standards.<br />

For applicants seeking Renewal of Type Approval, the requisite details need<br />

to be filled in a different sections of the same Type Approval application<br />

<strong>for</strong>mats (given as per Annexure Nos. mentioned in Table-1). The renewal is<br />

also subject to satisfactory compliance with commitments made by the<br />

supplier.<br />

3.18.2 Approval of Shipment <strong>for</strong> Radioactive Consignment under Special<br />

Arrangement<br />

Certain shipments of radioactive consignment which do not meet all the<br />

regulatory requirements can be undertaken only under the provision of Special<br />

Arrangement provided in the regulations <strong>for</strong> safe transport of Radioactive<br />

Material. The compensatory safety measures required should be achieved<br />

through operational control. The application <strong>for</strong>mat <strong>for</strong> obtaining Approval<br />

<strong>for</strong> shipment under special arrangement is given in Annexure 51. The AERB<br />

issues approval <strong>for</strong> such shipments after a detailed assessment.<br />

3.18.3 Safety Manpower Approval (i.e. RSO Approval)<br />

The AERB against an application complete in all respects grants Safety<br />

Manpower Approval, upon verification of compliance with the qualifications,<br />
