the device with source (IGRED) or X-ray machine. In case of IGRED, layout<br />

details of the storage facility are also required to be submitted <strong>for</strong> approval<br />

by AERB. The IGRED/X-ray machine should also be type approved be<strong>for</strong>e<br />

procurement. In case IGREDs/X-ray machine is not type approved, the<br />

applicant should submit the documents to the AERB demonstrating the<br />

compliance with the applicable national/international standards and the Type<br />

Approval/NOC procedures as per subsection .3.18.1 shall be followed.<br />

Prior to the procurement of the radiography device(s) /source, applicant should<br />

meet the provisions given in Annexure-25. These include the following:<br />

(ii)<br />

(iii)<br />

(iv)<br />

(v)<br />

(vi)<br />

Radiological safety officer (RSO)<br />

Certified radiographer<br />

Personnel monitoring devices<br />

Protection level dosimeters<br />

<strong>Radiation</strong> protection manual/emergency preparedness plans and<br />

procedures (EPP)<br />

Provisions/commitment <strong>for</strong> safe disposal of spent/ disused sources.<br />

Based on review of the Application, AERB may issue Consent <strong>for</strong> the<br />

procurement of IGRED/X-ray machine and loading of the source(s) in IGRED.<br />

After obtaining the IGRED with source/X-ray machine the applicant needs<br />

to obtain License <strong>for</strong> commissioning and operation of radiography facility<br />

using IGREDs/X-ray machine, either in the approved enclosure or open field<br />

radiography. The approval <strong>for</strong> the same should be obtained as per the<br />

procedures given in subsections 3.7.2 and 3.7.3 respectively.<br />

The Application <strong>for</strong>mat <strong>for</strong> obtaining Consent <strong>for</strong> Procurement of new*<br />

IGREDs/industrial X-ray machine is given in Annexure 25.<br />

3.7.2 Enclosed Radiography Installations<br />

3.7.2.1 General<br />

Industrial radiography installations in which radiography operations are<br />

carried out in an enclosure which has walls providing adequate protection to<br />

persons working outside the enclosure, and which prevents unauthorised entry<br />

of person into the enclosure during radiography operation are called enclosed<br />
