The applicant should submit the Application <strong>for</strong> obtaining Site and movement<br />

Approval of the source to the proposed Site, <strong>for</strong> conducting radiography<br />

operation. The Application <strong>for</strong>mat <strong>for</strong> the Site and Movement Approval is<br />

given in Annexure 27.<br />

AERB may carry out the inspection of the proposed site. Based on the review<br />

of application and in<strong>for</strong>mation obtained from inspection, if any, AERB may<br />

issue approval to the proposed site <strong>for</strong> radiography operations.<br />

3.7.3.1 Commissioning/Operation<br />

Prior to carrying out radiography work, at either enclosed installations or at<br />

open field, the applicant should obtain License <strong>for</strong> commissioning and<br />

operation of the radiography facility using IGRED(s)/X-ray machine. The<br />

application should include the radiation protection manual as per Appendix<br />

9E. The Application <strong>for</strong>mat <strong>for</strong> obtaining the Licence <strong>for</strong> commissioning<br />

and operation of radiography facility is given in Annexure 28.<br />

The AERB may carry out the inspection of the IGREDs/X-ray machine,<br />

radiography site, source storage facility or radiography enclosure as and when<br />

required. Based on the review of application <strong>for</strong> Licence <strong>for</strong> commissioning<br />

and operation and in<strong>for</strong>mation, if any, from the inspection, AERB may issue<br />

the Licence <strong>for</strong> Commissioning and Operation of radiography facility.<br />

The Consentee is required to submit the periodic safety status reports to AERB.<br />

The Consentee should not transfer IGREDs/X-ray machine from one approved<br />

radiography site/enclosure to another radiography site/enclosure without the<br />

prior permission of the AERB. The Consentee should obtain a fresh approval<br />

from AERB, <strong>for</strong> procurement of new radiography exposure device/new<br />

radiography site/transfer of the IGRED to another site.<br />

Any unusual occurrence or loss of radioactive source or radiography exposure<br />

device shall be promptly reported within 24 hours and this should be followed<br />

by a detailed investigation report.<br />

The Consentee shall arrange to constitute a Local Safety Committee with the<br />

Head of the institution as Chairman and the RSO as Member Secretary, to<br />

review the safety status of all radiation facilities in the radiography institution.<br />

The Committee may also include a certified radiographer(s) as a member(s).<br />

The minutes of the meetings and the action taken reports shall be available<br />

<strong>for</strong> inspection by AERB.<br />

3.7.3.2 Decommissioning/Disposal<br />

Consent <strong>for</strong> decommissioning should be obtained from the AERB when the<br />

radiography exposure device is no longer to be used. The Consentee should<br />

arrange to remove the radioactive source and return it to the source supplier<br />
