Vegetation in the area 6.1. The reserve Castle Hill-Lempes (Photo 8) The vegetation includes various xerophyte associations, steppe (the southern slopes on limestone bedrock), formed in postglaciar, and nemoral associations - different species forests (sessile oak, field maple, lime, hornbeam, field maple, beech, fir, hornbeam, plantations of black pine, with undergrowth of flowering ash, hawthorn, spindle-tree , warty spindle-tree, red dogwood, cornel tree, privet, walnut, ash, blackthorn, dwarf almond, etc.). Of the shrub vegetation it is noted the rare dwarf almond species (Mygdalus nana) and wild dwarf cherry (ground cherry, Cerasus / Prunus fruticosa). 91
FORESTRY BELTS SILVICULTURE AND CINEGETICS REVIEW XVII/30/2012 On sunny slopes, islands of steppe vegetation meet with elements naturally preserved of the xerophytes relict vegetation (some to the limit of their area). It is noted the species of steppe and calcofile like colilie (Stipa capillata and S. pulcherina), wood hairgrass (Festuca rupicola, F. valesiaca), dwarf sedge (Carex humilis), in association with other xerofile species (Koeleria gracilis, Stachis recta, Hyancithella leucophaea , Echium rubrum, etc.), continental steppe species like spring adonis (Adonis vernalis, a species typical heliofile) and other grassland species - red snake eyes, irises, wild hyacinth, etc. 6.2. The vegetation of the ground waves The ground waves are covered by a discontinuous blanket of grass, installed after their artificial sowing in 2009.
