18 GDS-003 Each RDAC implements a processing system described in the GDS within a regionally funded project that is common to all<br />

RDAC. Five GHRSST-PP RDAC projects are currently in preparation and are fully described in the GDIP. These are:<br />
18 GDS-004 1. The New Generations SST project (NGSST) serving the western Pacific area replaced by a approximately defined by<br />
NASR<br />
the Geostationary Meteorological Satellite (GMS, now replaced by GOES-9) footprint. The NGSST project is based in<br />
Japan.<br />
18 GDS-005 2. The European <strong>Medspiration</strong> Project (MSP) serving the Atlantic area and European shelf seas. SYS.0010<br />
18 GDS-006 3. The Ocean Forecasting Australia (OFA) BlueLink project serving the regional needs of the Australian region. NASR<br />
18 GDS-007 4. The Survey of the Environment Assisted by Satellite (SEASnet) program of the IDD serving the tropical oceans. The<br />
NASR<br />
SEASnet project is based in France.<br />
18 GDS-008 5. A project serving the SST needs of the USA under the US National Ocean Partnership Program (NOPP) under the<br />
NASR<br />
general title of ‘SST for GODAE’.<br />
18 1 GDS-009 A GDAC centre is currently in preparation that will be implemented as a joint system by the Jet propulsion Laboratory<br />
NASR<br />
Physical Oceanography <strong>Data</strong> Active Archive Center (PO.DAAC) and the US-GODAE data server system at Monterey<br />
(http://www.usgodae.org).<br />
18 4 GDS-010 The PO.DAAC will be responsible for the data management of the GDAC including metadata, data serving and user<br />
NASR<br />
interactions and US-GODAE will be responsible for the archive of GHRSST-PP data sets and the production of a global<br />
analysed SST fields initially using the US-Navy system.<br />
18 7 GDS-011 The USGODAE server is dedicated to serving large data sets to operational ocean models. In addition, the extensive<br />
NASR<br />
experience and capability of the PO.DAAC will ensure that GHRSST-PP scientific users are provided with excellent<br />
support, documentation and data access.<br />
18 GDS-012 In parallel, a second backup GDAC will be developed as part of the European Marine Environment and Security in the<br />
SYS.0010<br />
