Medspiration System Requirements Document 3.3.1 Archive MED-SOC-RS-001_1 Issue F archiving Reference data Online storage Offline storage backup Figure 3-5 The Medspiration archiving function at IFREMER SR.ARC.0010/I The archiving system shall ingest all valid L2P (received from CMS) and UHR/L4 products (generated at IFREMER). Data rejected at some stage of their processing or of their control shall not be archived. SR.ARC.0020/I Ancillary surface solar irradiance and wind speed fields (received from CMS) may also be archived if needed to compute the SSTskin to be included in the L4/UHR product. SR.ARC.0030/I L2P or UHR/L4 products received by the archiving system beyond the delivery time limits defined by the GHRSST-PP shall be registered anyway for users not constrained by real time needs. SR.ARC.0040/I L2P or UHR/L4 products shall be ingested in the archiving system as soon as they are generated by the related production system (or received, in case of a remote production system). 3.3.1.1 Reference data SR.ARC.0110/I Each L2P and L4 data file ingested in the archiving system shall be referenced in a database (inventory). SR.ARC.0120/I Spatio-temporal characteristics of each Medspiration product registered to the archiving system shall be extracted and stored within a database to facilitate and make faster product search and restoration. 3.3.1.2 Online storage SR.ARC.0210/I The archiving system shall provide online storage for the most recent © 2004 SOC Page 44 of 193

These storage capability shall be fully scalable depending on the available hardware and the occupation rate of each storage device. 3.3.1.3 Offline storage SR.ARC.0310/I The archiving system shall provide an offline storage facility for historical data (data files removed from the online storage space). This offline storage shall rely on the mass storage facility available at IFREMER. SR.ARC.0320/T The archiving system shall move data files from the online storage space to the offline storage space on a selective basis, for instance when the occupation rate of the online storage space is getting critical. This operation shall be initiated by a human operator as a maintenance task. SR.ARC.0330/T The archiving system shall be able to restore any offline data to the online storage space in reasonable delays (less than a few hours). 3.3.1.4 Backup SR.ARC.0410/I Changes in the online storage space (new or updated data files) shall be saved every night using the IFREMER backup facility. 3.3.2 Generate L4 analysed products Select/collate L2P observations SSTskin or SSTsubskin Diurnal cycle estimation (DV) SSI Wind speed SSTfnd Optimal interpolation (OI) Analysed SSTfnd L4 products generation SSTfnd SSTskin Figure 3-6.
