System Requirements Document
Issue F
SR.L4A.0055/I The L4 processor shall provide a measure of diurnal variability of the skin
deviation from SSTfnd within the data product time domain to accompany the SSTfnd
estimate
SR.L4A.0060/I The L2P data shall be selected/collated before the OI analysis
The rules proposed for the collation of L2P data have to be more defined because they
are completely correlated to the OI method. In particular, the rules proposed to collate the
L2P data induce an averaging of them that is inconsistent with the formalism of the
interpolation method. Consequently, the only collation possible will be into a 0.02° grid
without any averaging. However, in most optimal analysis systems, the analysis itself will
optimise the re-gridding of data although re-gridding prior to interpolation provides a more
straightforward processing system (p 85 of the GDS, line410 of UR-IFREMER ).
SR.L4A.0070/I The activation of the DV depends on the validation of the DV
parameterisation in the Mediterranean sea that will be undertaken by the CNR team
CNR will perform a study to verify the accuracy of the A Stuart-Menteth DV
parameterisation in the Mediterranean sea. If results are satisfying, we will activate the
DV parameterisation through the configuration file.
SR.L4A.0080/I The L4A interpolation sub-module shall be based on the optimal
interpolation scheme proposed by the GHRSST-PP (Reynolds et al., 2002, Guan and
Kawamura, 2003)
SR.L4A.0090/I OI scheme is expected to evolve as more experience is gained, therefore
the L4 analysis system will be built in a modular manner
SR.L4A.0095/I The regional parameters used by the OI scheme (correlation functions,
spatial and temporal correlation radius) will come from the correlation study led by the
CNR team in the frame of the Medspiration project.
SR.L4A.0100/I The sub-module “products generation” will generate L4 SST fnd that
contains SST fnd , 12 values of SST skin and associated errors. The SST skin values will be
filled if the DV parameterisation is activated.
