The proximity confidence value for SST measurements derived from infrared sensors<br />

(IPCV) flags the likelihood of cloud contamination of pixels which have already passed<br />

the cloud screening of the system which generated the ingested L2 products. It is based<br />

(see Figure 3-3) on the proximity to known cloudy pixels, and on comparison with<br />

expected (reference) SST values, but also needs information about the likelihood of<br />

upwelling. The process of deriving it gives rise to the following system requirements.<br />
