Module Purpose<br />

After completing this module successfully the student should be able <strong>to</strong> talk<br />

confidently about sex and sexuality, behave responsibly in relationships<br />

and live a safe, healthy life.<br />

Summary <strong>of</strong> Learning Outcomes<br />

On completion <strong>of</strong> this module, the student should be able <strong>to</strong>:<br />

1. Confidently discuss personal sexuality and values.<br />

2. Explain fac<strong>to</strong>rs that lead <strong>to</strong> healthy responsible sex.<br />

3. State the importance <strong>of</strong> responsible parenthood.<br />

4. Demonstrate leadership for safer healthier communities.<br />

Assessment Strategy for the Module<br />

Test = 10%<br />

Assignment = 12%<br />

Attitude and participation = 3%<br />

Total = 25% <strong>of</strong> overall course mark<br />

lesson plans. For example, community awareness<br />

Content <strong>of</strong> Module<br />

Culture, values, social groups, gender and environment shapes sexuality.<br />

Sexuality can change. Values can change over time.<br />

<strong>Health</strong>y sexuality includes: strong marriage, respect for the opposite sex,<br />

honesty, mutual understanding, non-violent, consensual, good<br />

communication, safe sex, good sex etc<br />

Unhealthy sexuality includes: rape, abuse, sex for money or goods,<br />

pressure, inappropriate dressing, unfaithfulness, multiple partners, unsafe<br />

sex, polygamy, inappropriate sexual acts, incest, adultery, violence, poor<br />

communication etc<br />

Sexual intercourse: attraction, arousal, foreplay, sex, orgasm<br />

Sexual response in men: erection, raised heart beat, sensitive skin,<br />

pleasurable sensations, ejaculation<br />
