Say, “Outside forces such as discrimination and poverty affect people who get <strong>HIV</strong><br />
and how they are treated when they get sick. Some people would rather think that<br />
only “bad” people get <strong>HIV</strong>. That would then protect them because they are, <strong>of</strong> course,<br />
‘good’ people. This is not true. We need <strong>to</strong> accept that <strong>HIV</strong> is everyone’ problem and<br />
well all need <strong>to</strong> work <strong>to</strong>gether <strong>to</strong> s<strong>to</strong>p the spread <strong>of</strong> the disease.”<br />
“Most <strong>of</strong> us have some type <strong>of</strong> prejudice. These biases cab obviously get in the way<br />
<strong>of</strong> any counselling or caring. The good news is that biases can be unlearnt. No-one is<br />
born with any feeling or beliefs that make them judge people they don’t know We<br />
learn prejudice. The first step is <strong>to</strong> recognise it.”<br />
