8 RON ZEE: Good afternoon. My name is Ron<br />
9 Zee, and I've lived on San Juan Island <strong>for</strong> over 15 years,<br />
10 and appreciate <strong>the</strong> tranquility of <strong>the</strong>se islands. It<br />
11 makes <strong>the</strong>m unique.<br />
12 My family and I own and operate a small organic farm<br />
13 on <strong>the</strong> west side of <strong>the</strong> island, and I serve as chair of<br />
14 <strong>the</strong> board of supervisors of <strong>the</strong> San Juan Island's<br />
15 Conservation District.<br />
16 From both of <strong>the</strong>se perspectives, as a farmer and as<br />
17 a conservation district supervisor, I request that you<br />
18 assess <strong>the</strong> air quality impact of <strong>the</strong> doubling of shipping<br />
19 traffic in <strong>the</strong> Haro and Rosario Straights that will occur<br />
20 if this project proceeds.<br />
21 To <strong>the</strong> best of my knowledge, an air-monitoring<br />
22 station operated by our regional clean air agency does<br />
23 not exist in <strong>the</strong> San Juan Islands.<br />
24 What is <strong>the</strong> cumulative impact over time from<br />
25 particulate matter vessel emissions, a criteria ambient<br />
