1 result of <strong>the</strong> coal terminal would be short-term<br />

2 construction jobs; very few long-term jobs.<br />

3 Ra<strong>the</strong>r, <strong>the</strong> main profit to be made here is<br />

4 being made by Peabody and <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r coal company -- I<br />

5 can't think of <strong>the</strong> name right now -- that are able to<br />

6 buy this coal really cheaply because it's subsidized<br />

7 by <strong>the</strong> government and <strong>the</strong>n <strong>the</strong>y make this huge profit<br />

8 selling it to China. I just don't see <strong>the</strong> point <strong>for</strong><br />

9 <strong>the</strong> rest of us.<br />

10 I'm concerned mostly though about <strong>the</strong> ships<br />

11 because <strong>the</strong>y're huge. And as has been talked about<br />

12 several times, <strong>the</strong> chances of running aground or<br />

13 running into a ferry or some o<strong>the</strong>r sea vessel is going<br />

14 to get worse and worse with <strong>the</strong> greater number of<br />

15 ships. We have very narrow straits, difficult<br />

16 navigation. The chances of an accident will get<br />

17 worse.<br />

18 These ships are single hulled, so one breach<br />

19 and you have got bunker fuel or diesel or possibly<br />

20 even <strong>the</strong> coal spilling. So to me it's a no brainer.<br />

21 I just don't even see how this can be considered.<br />

22 The spill would impact <strong>the</strong> economy, tourism,<br />

23 fishing. It would impact us residents and certainly<br />

24 <strong>the</strong> wildlife.<br />

25 So please scope <strong>the</strong> impact of a spill on <strong>the</strong><br />
