to be studied as part of the EIS.
I request studies including quantitative
results to address the following.
One, the dynamics of not only the ship
transits in question, but also looking at the context
of all the other significant marine traffic sharing
these waters and including the potential cumulative
impacts of other coal and other export shipping
activities, noting that safety challenges will
geometrically increase as the traffic increases.
Two, potentially catastrophic negative
impacts on the environment and on marine animals of a
collision or grounding event, including but not
limited to:
Spillage of bunker fuel from the vessel.
Please study the impact of a vessel containing bunker
fuel colliding with a passenger ferry or other cargo
ship, relative to the orca and salmon populations.
And also the requirements for suitably
expanding the resources and infrastructure required to
respond to and fully mitigate such a spill in the
surrounding waters. This study needs to reflect the
response time requirements in worst case weather
conditions.
Finally, potentially catastrophic negative
