2 Hennessey; and I'm here representing <strong>the</strong> Alliance <strong>for</strong><br />
3 Northwest Jobs and Exports, we're a coalition of more<br />
4 than 40 organizations, and we're growing every week<br />
5 from this region.<br />
6 On a personal note, I love <strong>the</strong> San Juans and<br />
7 my family has a place on Shaw.<br />
8 I believe that we can make this project<br />
9 happen in a way that's going to protect <strong>the</strong> San Juan<br />
10 Island.<br />
11 One of our region's most important and<br />
12 valuable assets is our position on <strong>the</strong> <strong>Pacific</strong> Rim and<br />
13 our export economy. In fact, four out of every ten<br />
14 jobs in this region relies on trade.<br />
15 Ano<strong>the</strong>r one of our strengths are our port<br />
16 facilities and <strong>the</strong> related transportation<br />
17 infrastructure that moves commodities and products<br />
18 effectively in and out of those port facilities.<br />
19 This proposed terminal will provide an<br />
20 important short and long term boost to our regional<br />
21 economy. It will create thousands of good family-wage<br />
22 jobs in construction trades, transportation,<br />
23 manufacturing trade, blue collar, white collar. They<br />
24 will boost a variety of commodities including grain.<br />
25 Each export proposal should undergo careful<br />
