natural beauty.
I would ask that the agencies study impacts
to the economy of the Pacific Northwest on a whole
from increased vessel traffic interrupting ferry
traffic. Ferries routinely are delayed by deep draft
ship traffic. More than just an inconvenience, this
costs the state and the people involved lots of money
over time.
I would also like to study the economic
impacts to tourism from a loss of herring, which is
the preferred food of juvenile salmon, which is the
preferred food of our Southern resident orcas, and
orcas seem to be the preferred prey of tourists.
I would also ask for a study of impacts from
possible fuel spill within the waters of the Pacific
Northwest on local eelgrass beds which I work on a
lot.
The San Juan Islands have nurseries for the
juvenile salmon from all over Puget Sound and Salish
Sea, and the impacts on the salmon populations in
regions would be devastating. Thank you very much.
