2 This may sound very abstract, but recently<br />

3 we removed two dams on <strong>the</strong> Elwha River. And <strong>the</strong><br />

4 college attendance rates among particularly native<br />

5 populations of high school students on <strong>the</strong> Olympic<br />

6 Peninsula have gone up. I fear <strong>the</strong> opposite will<br />

7 occur if we build this facility. You should evaluate<br />

8 <strong>the</strong> impact on our young people's future, including<br />

9 <strong>the</strong>ir hope.<br />

10 With <strong>the</strong> rest of <strong>the</strong> time I'd like to focus<br />

11 just on one species that's listed under <strong>the</strong> Endangered<br />

12 Species Act, <strong>the</strong> Marbled Murrelet. It's a small<br />

13 northwest bird; it cannot speak <strong>for</strong> itself.<br />

14 In a pivotal 2010 paper <strong>the</strong> primary feeding<br />

15 habitat <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> Washington State Marbled Murrelet is<br />

16 within San Juan County. I strongly encourage you to<br />

17 study <strong>the</strong> impact on <strong>the</strong> Marbled Murrelet. Thank you.<br />
