Assuming an averageload factor of 85 percent, equivalent to 40passengers per vehicle, 30 vehicles will berequired to operate the service (includingspares) in the near term—carrying 1,028commuters to the San Francisco Peninsulaeach weekday. This is equivalent to two Caltrain trips extended from Gilroy to Salinas. Longerterm, a fleet of 60 motor coaches (50 vehicles in revenue service plus 10 spares) will be required toaccommodate the four Caltrain each way ridership scenario.Fares and RevenuesThe same fare structure as proposed for the Caltrain <strong>Extension</strong> Alternative is assumed for the ExpressBus Alternative. All fare revenues will be used to offset operating and maintenance expenses.Physical Facilities of the Express Bus AlternativeAs noted above, the Express Bus Alternative assumes that MST will provide express bus servicefrom four park-and-ride facilities located in Pajaro Valley, Castroville, Salinas, and Marina. In addition,the planned Frank J.
