A three-story, modern office building(remodeled Granary Building) is located betweenthe parking lot and the freight depot. Additionalindustrial properties, including the American SupplyCompany distribution facility, are located furtherwest of Palmetto Street.Marina/CSUMB MST Transit Center andPark-and-RideThe Express Bus Alternative includes constructinga transit center/park-and-ride facility in the city ofMarina, in addition to a facility located in Castroville,adjacent to SR 156. The parking supplywould be apportioned between the two locationsand sized to be equal to the Caltrain <strong>Extension</strong>Alternative transit station at Castroville.The proposed Marina/CSUMB Transit Center andPark-and-Ride would be located at the former FortOrd in the city of Marina. The facility would beadjacent to Highway 1 on land formerly occupiedby military quartermaster warehouses, industrysiding track, and a print shop.In 1994, the United States Army closed militaryoperations at Fort Ord as part of the Base Realignmentand Closure process of the Departmentof Defense after 80 years of operation as an infantrytraining installation.To address these economic and environmentalchallenges, the Base Realignment and Closureprocess led to the formation of the Fort Ord ReuseAuthority (FORA) as an agency of the State ofCalifornia, and the approval of a Ford Ord ReusePlan.
