Each ACM state outside<strong>Alabama</strong> allows its residents to participate in only a few <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong>’s programsthrough the market.<strong>The</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Alabama</strong> <strong>Graduate</strong> <strong>School</strong> administers all undergraduate and graduateACM programs. A current table <strong>of</strong> pro grams that accept Ac a dem ic Common Mar ketstudents and the states that permit their residents to access these programs is availableonline at http://acm.ua.edu.MILITARY PROGRAMSGeneralArmy or Air Force ROTC scholarships and other fi nancial assistance may be availableto qualifi ed students who plan to be enrolled for at least two years. If other qualifi cations are met, a student with at leasttwo full years <strong>of</strong> full-time coursework remaining (in either graduate studies or a com bi -na tion <strong>of</strong> undergraduate and graduate courses) can apply for entry into the Pr<strong>of</strong>essionalOffi cer Course (POC). Currently, there also is a one-year option.Applicants must favorably complete the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test, pass a medicalphysical, pass a physical fi tness test, and have at least a 2.0 GPA. Students selected toenter the cadet corps will be scheduled for a summer fi eld training en camp ment prior toentry into the POC. Field training camps are conducted at Air Force bases throughoutthe United States. Suc cess ful completion <strong>of</strong> fi eld training qualifi es the student to enterthe POC. <strong>The</strong> student then completes the last two academic years <strong>of</strong> graduate and/orundergraduate studies, taking one 3-hour Air Force studies (AFS) class and a leadershiplaboratory each semester in order to gain an <strong>of</strong>fi cer’s commission upon completion <strong>of</strong>studies. Cadets in the POC are paid a $350–400 stipend per month during the academicyear and may be eligible for academic scholarships. Coursedescriptions may be found in the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Alabama</strong> undergraduate catalog.Army ROTCArmy <strong>of</strong>fi cer’s commissions are available to graduate students through the Army ROTCtwo-year option. A student with at least two years <strong>of</strong> full-time coursework remaining (ineither graduate studies or a combination <strong>of</strong> undergraduate and graduate courses) canapply for the Advanced ROTC Program. Students will be required to take three ROTCclasses each semester while completing their graduate or undergraduate studies. AdvancedROTC Program students must attend a 32-day summer camp between the fi rstand second years <strong>of</strong> enrollment, for which they will be paid one-half the pay <strong>of</strong> a secondlieutenant ($887.00). Students are paid a monthly tax-free subsistence allowance ($350.00per month during the fi rst year and $400.00 per month the second year) while enrolledin the Advanced ROTC Program.
