Topics include lesson planning, classroommanagement, spatial perceptions, andmovement characteristics of the child throughadolescence, including the handicapped andlearning disabled. Includes historical perspectiveson movement and dance education.Offered alternate years. III.O.DANC 461 (1, 2, or 3)–Independent StudyPrerequisites: One 100-level DANC course, one200-level DANC course, and permission of theinstructor. Pursuit of an upper level researchproject determined in advance by the student inconsultation with a faculty member who will actas the sponsor.DANC 463 (3)–Senior ProjectAn independent project for the senior dancemajor resulting in the presentation of a recitaland paper.DANC 467 (3)–Aesthetics Dance CriticismPrerequisites: DANC 221, DANC 222, DANC223, and DANC 224. Critical study of danceworks of major choreographers in differentdance styles; how technique and subject, formand content converge in dance works. Visitinglecturers in philosophy and criticism.
