If the matter is still not resolved at thedepartment level, the student may then referthe matter to the Dean of the <strong>College</strong> forfurther mediation.The Dean will investigate the matter andtake appropriate action. A grade may bechanged only if such change is necessitated by aclerical error or other oversight. Grade changesare limited to the semester subsequent to thatin which the work was done.Academic Eligibility andClass StandingAny student who fails to achieve a cumulativecredit ratio of 2.00 at the end of any termwill be reported by the Dean to the EligibilityCommittee, which may place the student onacademic warning, academic probation, academicsuspension, or declare her ineligible tocontinue her college course. Normally, a studentwith a GPA below 1.80 shall be placed onacademic probation.The status of a student who has been placedon academic warning or academic probationfor three consecutive semesters shall bereviewed by the Eligibility Committee, whomay suspend the student or declare her ineligibleto continue.Students not making satisfactory progresstoward the degree or who experience extremeacademic difficulty in a given term may be placedon academic warning or academic probationeven if their cumulative GPA is greater than 2.00.No student on academic warning or academicprobation may hold any extracurricularoffice or compete on club or varsity teams.Class standing is determined by completionof credit hours as follows:ClassCredit Hours EarnedFirst Year 0.00-26.99Sophomore 27.00-59.99Junior 60.00-89.99Senior 90.00 or moreSatisfactory Progress RequirementStudents must demonstrate progress towardthe degree by completing a minimum numberof semester hours and maintaining a minimumcredit ratio. Only courses taken for credit willbe used in calculating the minimum hoursearned: withdrawals, incompletes, and noncreditcourses will not be included.For full-time students, satisfactory academicprogress is demonstrated by advancing to thenext class each year. Students who fail to meetthis standard are ineligible to receive needbasedfinancial aid. They may regain eligibilityto receive need aid once they regain satisfactoryacademic progress.In the fall term of her fourth year, a studentmust have passed at least 87 semester credithours, must have a cumulative credit ratio ofnot less that 1.90.In the fall term of her third year, a studentmust have passed at least 54 semester credithours and have a cumulative credit ratio of notless than 1.80.In the fall term of her second year, a studentmust have passed at least 21 semester credithours and have a cumulative credit ratio of notless than 1.70.For part-time students, satisfactory progressis demonstrated by compliance with the followingschedule:End of Minimum MinimumYear semester hrs GPA1 16 1.702 343 54 1.804 755 97 1.906 120 2.00Students who fail to meet this standard areineligible to receive need-based financial aid.They may regain eligibility to receive need aidonce they regain satisfactory academic progress.36
