Where temperature differences and fillingquantities are significant, the increase can amount to several liters.The oil level must therefore be checked while still slightly warm, approximately 30 minutesafter switching off the drive unit.Figure 8-1Oil level in the <strong>gearbox</strong> housingProcedure1. Switch off the power supply to the drive unit.2. Unscrew the oil level screw, see Types of construction (Page 85).3. Check the oil level 1.4. Rectify the oil level 1 if necessary and check it again.5. Check the condition of the sealing ring on the sealing element and replace the sealingring if necessary.6. Seal the <strong>gearbox</strong> with the sealing element.You have now checked the oil level in the <strong>gearbox</strong> housing.Checking the oil level on size 38 <strong>gearbox</strong> housings with no screw plug for checking the oillevelSize 38 <strong>gearbox</strong>es have no screw for checking the oil level.In some versions of the B38 and BF38 bevel helical <strong>gearbox</strong>, there is an additional screwplug so that the oil level can be checked as described above.BA 201060 Operating Instructions, 05/2011
