While growingup in Flora, MS, his uncle and grandparents gave him an earlyintroduction to life in the real world. He worked with his uncle atSun Belt Bolts and Screws until he was 18 years old. After that, helabored in his grandfather’s junkyard. Parys says his family helpedinstill the blue-collar foundation he leans on now as an NFL player.“You had to have a strong work ethic because it was an 8-hour job inthe hot Mississippi sun. Sometimes I didn’t want to go, but my grandparentsmade me go because if I didn’t work for what I wanted, theyweren’t going to give it to me.” Those lessons taught Parys that goodthings don’t come without hard work and perseverance.• Thanks to his upbringing by this mom and grandparents, Parys willalways remember where he came from – and now it’s his opportunityto give back. Parys aspires to start his own foundation to benefit thechildren in his hometown of Flora, MS. “There are a bunch of kids inmy hometown. They are athletic, but they just run around and playfootball. No one really teaches them the techniques and the specializedtraining for each position.” When he goes home, Parys spendstime working out at his old high school and his middle school, takingtime to show the students everything it takes to be successful. “Youcan see how excited the kids get when I walk in. I know that they lookup to me and I take that responsibility seriously.
