He is deceptively agile and quick for aback his size. A 6th round pick in 2010 by San Francisco, Dixon ledall <strong>NFL</strong> players in carries (74), rushing yards (300) and touchdowns(4) during preseason action as a rookie. He went on to play in all 16regular season games as a reserve, recording 237 rushing yardsand two touchdowns, as well as 9 tackles on special teams. Dixon hadto over<strong>com</strong>e a variety of obstacles growing up, which included beinghomeless for quite some time. I’m reallyjust sacrificing my body for them.” Dixon had a lot of free time onhis hands growing up while his mom worked three different jobs. Itwas his responsibility to watch his younger brothers and take careof them until his mom got home from work. “I had to grow up beforeit was my time, but it made me stronger today just seeing that andgoing through that.”• Anthony isn’t the only professional athlete in the Dixon family. Hisyounger brother, Rashun (20), is a promising outfielder in the OaklandA’s farm system. A 10th round draft pick in 2008, Rashun wasnamed the best overall athlete in the A’s system in 2010 by BaseballAmerica as a member of the Single-A Kane County Cougars in Geneva,IL. Anthony’s youngest brother, Deshun, just started his probaseball career after being selected in the 10th round by the TampaBay Rays in 2010. Anthony’s second-oldest brother, Antwon, is alinebacker at Division II Midwestern State.// 2010• Scored on a 2-yd. TD run on his first career carry vs. NO (9/20). Hebecame the first RB in the <strong>NFL</strong> to score a TD on his first career carrysince Jacksonville Jaguars RB Montell Owens vs. Hou. (9/28/08). Thelast 49er to score a TD on his first career carry was WR Terrell Owensat StL (10/25/98).• Registered a career high in rush atts. (5) and rush yds. His 126.5 ypg led the SEC and ranked6th in the nation. Appeared in 12 games as a true freshman and setnumerous school single-season records for freshman, while leadingthe team with 668 yds. on 169 carries and 9 TDs.// PERSONAL• Attended Terry (Terry, MS) HS, where he was named first-team allstateby the Jackson Clarion-Ledger and the Mississippi Associationof Coaches following his senior season, when he rushed for 2,683yds. on 204 carries and 31 TDs. Also earned Metro POY honors ashe gained over 150 yds. in 11 of 13 contests and led his team to thestate quarterfinals.
