Justin Chabot is in his eighth year with the 49ers and his secondcovering the Southeast region. He had spent the previous six yearsas the team’s Southwest regional scout.Prior to joining the 49ers, Chabot spent five years as the directorof football operations at Northwestern. As part of his role with theWildcats, Chabot served as the pro liaison to visiting college talentscouts from the NFL. Chabot was extremely familiar with Northwestern’sfootball program, having starred as an offensive lineman onthe 1995 and 1996 Big Ten Championship teams.Chabot recorded 41 career starts on the Northwestern offensiveline, including starts on the 1996 Rose Bowl and the 1997 CitrusBowl teams. A four-year letterwinner and captain of the 1996 squad,Chabot was named first-team All-Big Ten by the media and coachesas a senior. He was also named to the Academic All-Big Ten list in1993.Born in Washington, DC, Chabot was raised in Oxford, OH. He graduatedfrom Northwestern in 1996 with a degree in sociology, andplayed professionally during the 1997 season with the PittsburghSteelers and the New York Giants.Chabot resides in Baton Rouge, LA, with his wife, Suzy, and twinsons, Walker and Brant.Reggie Cobb is in his third year with the 49ers as the club’sWestern region scout.Cobb joined the 49ers after spending the previous six years scoutingthe Southwest region for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and twoseasons (2001-02) as a member of the Washington Redskins scoutingdepartment.The 2008 Bucs draft produced CB Aqib Talib, who tied for first in theNFL among rookies with four interceptions, OL Jeremy Zuttah, whostarted at both guard positions, and LB Geno Hayes, who was a bigcontributor on special teams. The Buccaneers also signed undraftedrookie free agent RB Clifton Smith, who was selected to the 2009AFC/NFC Pro Bowl as a kick returner and was named AP Second-Team All-Pro.The Bucs 2006 draft produced four rookies who saw starting actionin their first season: G Davin Joseph (13 games/12 starts), TJeremy Trueblood (15/13), WR Maurice Stovall (9/2) and QB BruceGradkowski (13/11). In 2007, Cobb helped assemble a Bucs draft classthat included two rookies that were selected to the PFW/PFWA All-Rookie team in G Arron Sears and late DE Gaines Adams, as well asstandout FS Tanard Jackson, who started all 16 games.Cobb enjoyed a seven-year playing career that began as a secondroundpick (30th overall) by the Buccaneers in 1990. Cobb playedhis first four seasons (1990-93) with Tampa Bay before playing oneseason each with Green Bay (1994), Jacksonville (1995) and the N.Y.Jets (1996).Cobb finished his college career ranked third on the University ofTennessee’s career rushing chart with 2,360 yards and 26 touchdowns.He was also a member of the school’s 100th anniversaryteam.
