Trent Baalke enters his seventh season with the 49ers and his14th in the National Football League. Named the 49ers General Manageron January 4, 2011, Baalke oversees all facets of football operations.Prior to being named 49ers GM, Baalke served as Vice President ofPlayer Personnel for the team in 2010, as he oversaw all aspects ofplayer personnel, including the team’s draft process. <strong>For</strong> the firsttime in his career, he <strong>com</strong>manded a <strong>NFL</strong> team’s draft room, and nettedeight selections that went on to make the team’s opening-dayroster. The class included first rounders T Anthony Davis and G MikeIupati, who both went on to start every game of their rookie year.That same offseason, Baalke was also instrumental in extending thecontracts of All-Pro LB Patrick Willis and Pro Bowl TE Vernon Davis.From 2008-09, Baalke served as the 49ers Director of PlayerPersonnel, overseeing both the college and pro personnel departments.He first joined the franchise immediately following the 2005<strong>NFL</strong> Draft as the team’s Western Region Scout, a position he heldthrough 2007.Baalke spent four years on the Washington Redskins scouting staff,serving as the College Scouting Coordinator in his final season.From 2001 to 2003, he served as Washington’s National Scout andtraveled throughout the country in search of rising talent. Beforejoining the Redskins, Baalke spent three seasons (1998-2000) as ascout with the New York Jets.From 1990 to 1995, Baalke held the position of defensive line/strength and conditioning coach at South Dakota State. In that role,he helped promote players such as former Pro Bowl guard AdamTimmerman and current <strong>NFL</strong> kicker Adam Vinatieri to <strong>NFL</strong> scouts.Baalke then spent time as the athletic director at Shanley HighSchool in Fargo, ND, before moving on to the Jets. Baalke beganhis coaching career as a graduate assistant defensive line coach atNorth Dakota State, in 1989. The team finished with a 14-0 recordand a Division II National Championship.A double major at Bemidji State (MN), Baalke received his bachelor’sdegree in health and physical education. Hewent on to earn his master’s degree in secondary education andsports administration while coaching at North Dakota State.Baalke played outside linebacker and was a two-time All-NorthernSun Conference and an All-Mid West Region honoree at Bemidji.Trent and his wife, Beth, have twodaughters, Katy and Cassie.SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS \\7// MEDIA GUIDE
