A former NFL tight end, Reggie Davis is in his first season as tightends coach for the 49ers after being hired on February 4, 2011.Davis previously played alongside, and coached under, 49ers headcoach Jim Harbaugh, while with the San Diego Chargers and at theUniversity of San Diego, respectively.Davis spent the previous three years as the running backs coach atOregon State University. Under his tutelage, RB Jacquizz Rodgersbecame the first freshman in the history of the Pac-10 Conference toearn its Offensive MVP award in 2008, after rushing for 1,253 yardsand earning All-America honors for his efforts.Prior to joining the Beavers in 2008, Davis was the running backscoach at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas from 2005-07. In 2004,he served on Harbaugh’s San Diego coaching staff, tutoring the tightends and assisting with special teams. From 2000-04, he workedas a speed and strength coach for Play Fast Athletics in San Diego.A University of Washington standout, Davis went on to play two seasonsalongside Harbaugh as a Charger (1999-2000), appearing in 26games (three starts).A native of Long Beach, CA, Davis holds a degree in sociology.
