Nate Breske is in his third year as an assistant athletic trainerwith the 49ers.Breske joined San Francisco after working at Physical Therapy Specialistsin Watertown, South Dakota. After graduating from physicaltherapy school, Breske founded the outpatient clinic, which specializesin sports medicine, post-op orthopedic cases and pain management.He also served as the director of athletic training for the WatertownSchool System.Breske obtained his doctorate degree (2000-04) in physical therapyfrom the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.In that span, he also interned with the New England Patriotsduring the 2003 preseason as an athletic trainer.From 1995 to 2000, Breske pursued a bachelor’s degree in athletictraining, biology and psychology at Northern State University in Aberdeen,South Dakota. He was the starting quarterback at NSU as ajunior and senior. The two-time team captain earned all-conference(NSIC) and academic all-conference honors.Breske was an all-state football player at Webster (SD) High School.He is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association(NATA), the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) andthe Professional Football Athletic Trainers Society (PFATS).Born in Pierre, South Dakota, he and his wife, Tia, who is a registerednurse, have two sons, Jherek and Keon Breske and reside inSan Jose, CA.Manny Rivera is in his eighth year as assistant athletic trainerwith the 49ers. This is Rivera’s second stint with San Francisco afterserving as an intern athletic trainer during the 2001 season.Prior to being hired full time in San Francisco, Rivera spent a yearworking with the United States Olympic Committee. With the USOC,he provided medical coverage for hundreds of Olympic and Paralympichopefuls in track and field, softball, baseball, soccer, volleyballand rugby.After interning with the 49ers, Rivera served as a graduate assistantathletic trainer for the Indiana University football team. Whileat Indiana, he was directly responsible for the emergency medicalsupplies, training supplies and inventory, packing for team travel, aswell as game day medical logistics. Rivera was also responsible forsupervision, instruction and evaluation of undergraduate athletictraining curriculum students. Rivera graduated from Indiana with aMaster of Science degree in Kinesiology in 2003.Rivera began his career in athletic training, serving as a studentathletic trainer at the University of the Pacific, where he earneda bachelor’s degree in Sports Medicine, in 2001.
