San Francisco enjoyed its first lead of thegame after Harry Sydney scored on a three-yard run.With just over two minutes elapsed in the fourth quarter,Ickey Woods dove in from one yard out to regain thelead for Cincinnati, 17-14. On the first play, Joe Montanahit Jerry Rice for a 29-yard strike and guided the teamdown to the Cincinnati six-yard line. They took a 6-0 lead on anotherJacke 25-yard field goal. On San Francisco’s secondpossession of the second quarter, Grbac led a six-play,36-yard drive that resulted in a Jeff Wilkins 48-yardfield goal. After a three-and-out series by the Packers,Jerry Rice caught a seven-yard touchdown fromGrbac for a 10-6 lead. The 49ers jumped outto a quick lead after a Jeff Wilkins 28-yard field goal.They extended their lead to 10-0 on a 29-yard touchdownstrike from Steve Young to Iheanyi Uwaezuoke.Quiet for most of the first half, the Cowboys finally goton the board with a 72-yard scoring drive that endedon a Troy Aikman three-yard touchdown run, which cutthe deficit to 10-7 at halftime. Defenses dominated inthe third quarter with neither team allowing a score.Dallas ended the scoring drought with a Chris Boniol26-yard field goal four seconds into the fourth quarterto tie the game at 10. With Young out in the secondhalf after sustaining a concussion, Elvis Grbac led SanFrancisco on a nine-play, 68-yard scoring drive on itsnext possession. Terry Kirby capped it off with a 27-yard touchdown run. Washington’s Scott Blanton hit fieldgoals from 19 and 48 yards out and Wilkins added anotherto knot the score at six going into halftime. Theonly score in the third quarter came on a Blanton fieldgoal from 41 yards out to give Washington a 9-6 lead.San Francisco got on the board first in the fourth quarterwith a Wilkins 44-yard field goal three minutes into theperiod. On the ensuing possession, Gus Ferotte drovethe Redskins 78 yards, which culminated with a JamieAsher 20-yard touchdown reception. The 49erstied the game with 1:57 remaining in regulation on aone-yard run by William Floyd, forcing overtime. On its first possessionin the second half, San Francisco evened the score at17 with a 22-yard field goal by Wade Richey. On thefollowing possession, Foley found Keyshawn Johnsonfor a 21-yard touchdown and a 24-17 lead. With justover three minutes remaining in the third quarter, JerryRice caught a 14-yard touchdown from Steve Young tobring the 49ers within one. The extra point was blockedand the score remained 24-23 heading into the fourthquarter. New York extended its lead to 27-23 after aJohn Hall 32-yard field goal. San Francisco took possessionwith 3:38 left in regulation and went on a 76-yard, five-play drive that was capped by a 38-yardtouchdown pass from Young to J.J. Stokes, giving the49ers the lead 30-27 with just over one minute remainingin regulation. New York then drove the ball tothe 49ers 13-yard line, where John Hall tied the gameat 30 with just three seconds on the clock.
