98LightWave 10 - ModelerStep 2: Open the Numeric Panel and select Curve as the Type.Bezier ToolThe Bezier tool (Create > Curves: Bezier) allows you to createstandard spline curves using tangent controls. If you’ve used anyvector program you will feel right at home using the Bezier tool.Step 3: Drag out the desired shape. When you release yourmouse button, a curve is created using the shape you sketchedout. The curve is always written on a plane positioned at 0 of theviewport’s perpendicular axis.To use the Bezier tool:Step 1: Choose Create > Curves: Bezier.Step 2: Place your mouse pointer where you would like to beginyour curve.Creating open curves can be used in many Modeling operations. The image below is an example of taking the curve created aboveand using the Lathe tool to create a solid object. Instant SprayCan!Step 3: Click and hold your LMB — the beginning and ending ofyour first curve is created. Drag your mouse to where you wantthe curve to end and release the mouse button.Step 4: Successive clicks will create additional curves.Step 5: Drag the tangent handles (circles) to adjust the curveshape. Holding the Ctrl key while dragging will allow you to moveboth sides of the tangent simultaneously.Step 6: Click and drag with the LMB in the large circles thatrepresent the curve control points to change the control point’sposition.Step 7: Drop the tool by hitting the space bar.NOTE: Using the Bezier tool to generate acomplex curve actually generates a normalModeler spline curve between each control point. As such, you cannot re-edit the curves using the Bezier toolbut, you can edit the control points created on the finishedsplines. To make the curves a single entity, select all thecurves (you must be in Polygon selection mode to do this)and use the Detail> Merge Polygons tool (Shift Z) to join allthe curves together. (This is essential if the curve is to be usedlater on with Modelers Rail Bevel or Rail Clone tool).
