180Split Polygons Tool(default keyboard shortcut Shift L)LightWave 10 - ModelerChoosing Multiply > Subdivide: Split will divide a polygon intotwo smaller polygons using its existing points. If used on a curve, the curve will be split into two distinct curves.Select a polygon and switch to the Point edit mode. Select twopoints that do not share any edges. Clicking Split will subdividethe polygon along a line between those two points.Triple Tool(default keyboard shortcut Shift T)The Triple command (Multiply> Subdivide: Triple) convertsthe selected polygon(s) into triangular polygons. For example,a square polygon becomes two triangular polygons. Trianglescannot by definition become non-planar; therefore, this tool isuseful for objects you wish to animate using bones, or objectsthat will have Displacement Maps. Tripling non-planar polygonsmakes them planar.NOTE: In Point mode, the Bridge tool(Construct> Bridge) works identically to theSplit Polygons command, except withone convenient modification: you don’t have to select thepolygons you want to cut ahead of time.HINT: When working with Splines, repeating theSplit Polygons tool when there are multiple pointsselected will split the spline into smaller splines.effect.NOTE: Tripling does not change the generalshape of the object/polygons. Also, once apolygon is a triangle, tripling it again has no
