110Center Data(default keyboard shortcut F2)LightWave 10 - <strong>Modeler</strong>Shear Tool(default keyboard shortcut [)The Center Data command (Modify: Center) centers thecontents of the foreground layer(s) on the Origin (i.e., 0, 0, 0).Shearing is making an object slant to one side. A good exampleis italicized text. Think of Shear as Move with axial falloff. Thatis, the strength of the moving influence is not equal across theobject, but gradually falls off along a selected axis.To use the Shear tool:Select Modify >Shear, click and drag your LMB in a viewport inthe direction you want the slant.The information display tells you how much Offset you appliedalong two of the three axes, depending on the view you edit in.Hold the Ctrl key down while dragging to constrain the shear toyour initial dragging axis.The Offset X, Y, and Z values on the numeric panel will reflectthe amount of movement along those axes for the tool’s lastoperation.NOTE: The falloff modes for this tool aredescribed in detail starting on page 136.
