56LightWave 10 - ModelerSave View PresetsYou also have the option in Modeler of saving viewport presets. You can place the cursor over a particular viewport and usethe Ctrl key in combination with any of the number keys on thenumeric keypad to map that viewport or the whole window to thathotkey. For example if you place your cursor over the perspectiveviewport and hit Ctrl numpad 9 you can assign that viewport tothat hotkey. Each time you hit the numpad 9 key while holdingthe cursor over ANY viewport it will change to your preset. Thisis a great way to easily switch viewports or even whole viewportsetups instantly for different workflows. The Top view is an overhead point of view lookingdown on the object. The Back view looks directly atthe object from the rear. The Right view is positionedas if you stood to the object’s right. Perspective isa forced perspective view that you can rotate byholding the Alt key and dragging your mouse on it.You can change the relative sizes of the windows bydragging any border between the viewports.Resetting ToolsNon-interactive areas (e.g., not a button) on the toolbar andbottom border (including the left-corner information display andgrid size) act as a Reset button, much like you might use the Esckey on other applications. What happens when you click in a resetarea depends on the current state of tools. For example, if youhave points/polygons/edges selected and you are in the Point/Polygon/Edge Selection Mode, they become unselected. As you grow familiar and gain experience withModeler, you will find yourself switching back andforth among these viewports, changing their size, position, and function, and even changing thenumber, to get the best view from which to use aparticular tool. You can adjust the screen to seeas much or as little detail as you want, by usingvarious options. All built-in tools (i.e., primitive and modifying) maintain their state,if they are used, unselected, and then used again. The defaultstate of the tool can be recovered by dropping (clicking in a resetarea or choosing View/ Selection/ Drop Selection when atool is selected, but inactive.) If the tool is active, the first dropdeactivates the tool, keeping the current settings. The seconddrop would then reset to the default settings. You can also choose the Make tool. This is just like clicking theActive Tool button, making it inactive.HINT: You can Maximise a viewport bymoving the cursor over it and pressingthe Numeric 0 key on the keyboard.
