48Independent OptionsLightWave 10 - ModelerThe Independent options let you make certain viewportcharacteristics independent from other viewports. Changes tothe selected characteristic do not affect it in other viewports andvice versa. For example, if a viewport uses Independent Zoom, zooming in it does not affect the zoom of other viewports. Youmust have your pointer over the viewport to affect an independentviewport. Independent Rotation is only applicable to perspectiveviews. Normally, it is enabled. If you have multiple perspectiveviews and this option disabled, they will move in unison when yourotate a view.Backdrop TabOn the Backdrop Tab, you can add full-color backdrop imagesthat act as reference guides when you build objects. They let youmodel much like tracing a picture using tracing paper. To usebackdrops, select the Viewport and the desired image from theImage pop-up menu.Independent VisibilityThe lower portion of the panel contains the independentvisibility options. You can individually select which visibilityoptions are independent. To use them, you must also activatethe Independent Visibility option. This option lets you quicklyenable/disable this feature without losing the state of each setting.NOTE: If you are using a UV Texture viewport, you can choose a backdrop using any loadedimage from what is normally the Rendering Stylepop-up menu on the viewport’s title bar. From the Presets pop-up menu, you can save the settings for theselected Viewport to a file by choosing Save Current Backdrop. You can load this file later using Load Backdrop for any selectedViewport. You can also save the settings for all viewports bychoosing Save All Backdrops. When this file is loaded later —using Load Backdrop — the individual Viewport settings arerestored.NOTE: The backdrop images for the currentdefault layout for each view configuration arecached as long as possible. Also, backdrops arenot saved in config files or view presets.Use the Image drop down menu to select from the loaded imagesor choose (Load Image) to bypass the Image Editor and load anew image into Modeler and automatically select it for the currentviewport. You can also adjust Brightness and Contrast. Use the slidersto adjust the settings. You can invert the colors by activatingthe Invert option. If you want to blend pixels for close-up work, activate the Pixel Blend option. Image Resolution determinesthe accuracy of the displayed image.HINT: Colored background images sometimesmake the wireframe hard to see (especially if theimage has a bright white background). Settingthe Contrast to its lowest value, and the Brightness to a littleabove the darkest value will produce a reasonable-lookingbackdrop that works well when Modeling.
