290SelectionLightWave 10 - ModelerTwo commands can help you select Skelegons: select ChildSkelegon (Setup > Skelegons: Selection > Select ChildSkelegon), which selects the child of the currently selectedSkelegon, and select Parent Skelegon (Setup > Skelegons:Selection > Select Parent Skelegon), which selects the parentof the currently selected Skelegon.Skelegon WeightSet Skelegon Weight command (Setup > Skelegons: More >Skelegon Weight) will set up the Skelegons association to mapnames. You still need to create and edit the weighting values asyou would normally. The associated map names are automaticallyassigned to the bones and will appear as the Bone Weight Mapsetting on the Bones Panel.Step 3: Repeat the previous step for all chains, if you have morethan one. You can use the same point in multiple chains.Step 4: Choose Setup> Skelegons: More > ConvertSkelegons to create the skelegon from the curves. You can editthe base/tip of the bones using standard modeling tools. TheSkelegon bones will stay attached to each other.NOTE: The Skelegon Tree Panel will list mapassignments.Convert SkelegonsOne way to create Skelegons is to create curves first. You canthen convert the curves into Skelegons, which will be placedbetween the curve knots (points). With Convert Skelegons,(Setup> Skelegons: More > Convert Skelegons) you can evenuse points from the object to create the curves. To use Convert Skelegons:Step 1: In an open Modeler layer, create points that willcorrespond to the bases and tips of the bones you want toeventually create. (You’ll probably want the object to be boned inthe background for reference.)If you desire, you can select and delete the curve afterward.Step 5: If you want, you can optionally cut and paste theSkelegons into the layer with the normal object geometry.Step 2: Select points, working from the (theoretical) base ofthe first child bone to the tip of the last bone in the chain. Thenchoose Create >Make Curve > Make Open Curve to create anopen-ended curve with your points.
