Brooks” received$172.55 for Daniel’s service in the Texas Revolution. On June 17, 1851, 640acres of land was issued to his heirs on Donation Certificate Number 325. OnJune 18, 1851, an additional 1,920 acres was issued in his name on Bounty CertificateNumber 862. On August 24, 1859, another 640 acres of land was issuedto Daniel’s heirs in Palo Pinto County, Texas. In 1861, W. P. Powell received$300.00, distributive share of the estate of Robert Brooks. In 1870, William andAmanda Powell were living in Jefferson County, Alabama. On August 7, 1874,yet another 1,280 acres was issued in his name in Palo Pinto County. Williamand Amanda Powell lived for many years in Waco, Texas. In 1900, William D.Powell were living in Greer County, Oklahoma Territory. William Powell wasfound twice in the 1900 census and was also found in the household of hisdaughter, Myrtle (Powell) Koen in Ellis County, Texas. Amanda (Brooks)Powell died on April 2, 1899 in Mangum, Oklahoma and William D. Powelldied on April 9, 1901 in Mangum, Oklahoma Territory. Both were buried in unmarkedgraves at the First Street Cemetery in Waco, Texas.On November 27, 1879, Mary Powell married James H. Hudson in Waco,Texas. James was born in 1854 in South Carolina. James and Mary Hudsonnever had any children. From about 1900 to 1938, Mary (Powell) Hudson livedin Memphis, Tennessee. Mary (Powell) Hudson donated the 1836 letter writtenby Daniel B. Brooks to the University of Texas Archives. Mary (Powell) Hudsondied on May 21, 1942 in Memphis, Tennessee. On February 10, 1885,Grace Powell married T. J. Tingle in Waco, Texas. T. J. and Grace Tingle hadat least one daughter: - Gladys Tingle. Grace (Powell) Tingle died on February4, 1904 in Muscogee, Oklahoma.
